“You are not a country, Africa
You are a concept
Fashioned in the minds, each to each
To hide our separate fears
To dream our separate dreams”
(Abioseh Nicol)

How relevant is Africa at the moment? In the context of the rise of emerging economies in Asia, can Africa play a meaningful part in global realpolitik? What is the nexus between democratic development and the enhancement of the relevance of Africa on the global stage? what are the pre-requisites for change in Africa? Is regional integration the panacea to Africa’s woes?

This blog is dedicated to answering these interrelated questions. Through my own ‘ordinary’ analysis and the contributions of like-minded pan-Africanists, this blog will attempt to provide nuanced thoughts on ‘where the rain started beating us’ and how to reposition Africa for current and future challenges.

If the sun that greeted Africa’s nativity is again to ever shine, then we need to start engaging in serious and deep reflections on how to change the status quo!
